Narrated by Morgan Freeman, March of the Penguins is an a+we-inspiring, true life tale. Breathtaking photography captures the transcendent beauty and fascinating drama of devoted parent penguins who, in the face of the fierce polar winter, take turns guarding their egg and trekking 70 miles to the ocean in search of food. "The movie is more stuffed with metaphors than a penguin after a two-week eating frenzy" says AASA executive director Paul Houston. The movie offers many insights from the natural world of Antarctica that could be useful to school leaders. We involved the innovative thinking of educational leaders, scholars, and teachers, committed to the noble endeavor of educating today’s children for tomorrow’s world. The salon addressed such questions as: What is the purpose of education? How can we position our schools to best meet emerging societal trends during the coming decade? How can we empower children, teachers, and leaders to bring out the best in them? How can we unleash the creativity and natural gifts of our students and teachers? How can we engender hope in our public schools?
